About us
Coda was built in 2026 by Juan Carlos Garcia, a Software Engineer from Valencia, Spain. Juan Carlos has been playing double bass since the age of eight, alongside guitar, bass, piano, and traditional Valencian instruments like the dolçaina. Music has always been a constant.
The idea came after becoming a parent. With a new daughter at home, finding time to rehearse with other musicians in the same place became nearly impossible. But the desire to perform — to collaborate, to make something together — didn't go away. Coda is the answer to that feeling: a way to perform with musicians around the world without anyone needing to be in the same room, or even awake at the same time. No video editing knowledge required. No studio setup. Just music.
Our mission
Great music has always required people to play together — but geography, schedules, and logistics have always gotten in the way. Coda removes those barriers. A composer in Barcelona, a violinist in Seoul, a cellist in São Paulo, and a flutist in Lagos can collaborate on the same piece without ever being in the same room, or even awake at the same time.
We believe that the craft of ensemble music — the interplay, the listening, the shared interpretation — should be accessible to every musician, regardless of where they live or what studio equipment they own.
What we believe
- Async first. Scheduling across time zones is painful. Recording on your own schedule — and still being part of an ensemble — should be the default, not the exception.
- No software to install. Every professional musician already has enough gear to manage. Coda runs entirely in the browser.
- Open to everyone. Coda is free. Listening requires no account. Recording requires only a microphone. Joining a project requires only an invite link.
- Creator in control. Project creators curate their ensemble — they review recordings, leave feedback, select takes, and publish when they're satisfied with the result.
- Community matters. Beyond performances, Coda is a place for musicians to connect, ask for help, share what they're learning, and find their people.
